Snapchat has quickly become the most popular social networking site in Colombo. As with every other app, it is now easy to identify the several different types of Snapchat users on your friend list.
Let’s have a look at some of these below.
- The Selfie Obsessed
While Snapchat is intended for posting a variety of different and interesting pictures and videos, we all have those few friends whose snaps consist solely of pictures of their face. Selfie after selfie, the only thing which slightly changes is their facial expression from the duck face, to every possible smile. Even worse, they will take the exact same selfie using every filter available, especially the Colombo City skyline filter, although we already know where they live.
- The Celebrity Impersonator
This is the friend who snapchats every single moment of their lives and practically behaves like a Kardashian on social media. You will always find an update on their Story, of them doing completely mundane day to day things, like walking on Galle Road. You will begin to wonder whether they have a single undocumented moment of their life.
- The Pet Crazed
Everyone knows this is the best type of Snapchat friend to have. Their snapchats mainly consist of incredibly cute pictures and videos of their dogs, cats, or any other pets. After a long day at work, it can be incredibly relaxing to sit back and watch a video of your friend taking his puppy to the beach. Here’s some valuable life advice: never let this one go.
- The Conversationalist
While the messaging option on Snapchat is rather fun to use, it can occasionally become very annoying. This happens when you have the type of friend who wants to carry out a long detailed conversation even though the messages you send each other will disappear within seconds. Even worse, your replies and sentences have to be short enough to read in 10 seconds. Ultimately, the both of you will forget what the other person said, and end up snapping pictures of your blank wall, with random emojis as your caption.
- The Deceiving Private Snapchatter
This person will constantly send you private snaps of something pretty interesting. This might make you feel special for a minute and you will actually reply back. Sadly, minutes later, you will notice that they have posted the same thing on their story! The entire purpose of sending you that picture privately is lost, if it’s on their story as well. As such, always follow the golden rule: check their story before you reply.
- The Foodie
This individual exists for the sole purpose of making you hungry. This Snapchat friend will document every food or drink that they ingest, including the stereotypical coffee picture as well. In general, people tend to have mixed feelings about this person. On the one hand, you appreciate the opportunity to see some good food. On the other hand, you’re now starving more after seeing some food you can’t even eat.
- The Cinema/Concert
You will click this friend’s story, hoping to watch something exciting and interesting. Instead, it will either be a blank snap of music playing in the background, or long videos of a movie or TV show your friend is watching. If we wanted to watch the new episode of Game of Thrones, we can illegally download it ourselves, thanks.
- The Partygoer
This friend feels the need to constantly show the world that is he/she is out partying, drinking, or smoking. As such, you will receive snaps containing things such as liquor bottles, cigarette smoke, and extremely loud music. The snaps will be dark, with flashing lights, to prove to the world that they are out at a nightclub. An additional bonus is the constant ‘Friyay’ snap you can expect to receive every week.
There are many different types of Snapchat users out there, and people are spending an increasing amount of time on this app. Nevertheless, even those ten seconds of your life are precious, so don’t waste it watching a random friend of yours simply walking on Galle Road. You can do that yourself!
