Sri Lanka is a country that thrives on our diversity and differences but oftentimes, many topics of conversation are swept under the carpet, whispered in hushed tones, and never see the light of day. There are battles that we all face on a day to day basis from financial failures to mental health issues to the identification of your sexuality, but because of the ‘forbidden’ nature of these topics of conversation, they’re often forced into the darker parts of society. The internet and Westernization may be slowly changing these conversations and bringing to light issues that we all need to be speaking of, but it’s time that we, as a society, propel this process forward.
Taboo 2019 organized by Pulse and Aura India
a day of initiating conversations and changing perceptions, to be held on the
26th of January 2019 at Trace Expert City, Maradana from 10am – 7pm
Aiming to break the barriers we have set for ourselves, and cross all boundaries in the name of inclusion, Taboo brings to the forefront topics that have been hushed for far too long. Ranging from pre-marital sex to zero-waste menstruation to ending corporal punishment, Taboo will address the unfathomable, the unspoken, and the “ugly truth”, all spear-headed by experts in each field. Entrance is free so be sure to drop by and Break The Taboo.
