Menu

Ah, Mexican food! A delightful cuisine that’s hitting the streets of Colombo these days. Starting with Taco Bell, which was quite a hit with the Colombars, we now have a (relatively) new kid on the block – Let’s Taco, down Dickman’s road. Read on for our thoughts on this delightfully quit little place full if ambience and personality!

We walked into the little restaurant to the tunes of “Raining Tacos” by Parry Grip belting out in the background (lovely touch!). We were blown away by the décor here, with the colourful paintings and numerous posters artistically hung all around. The wait staff was super friendly, showing us to a comfortable seated area in the back, with a number of couches and tables around.

Drinks

As we were intrigued by the in-house specials – namely, the Green lemonade and the Zingy Orange. So we went for these, as well as the Mixed Fruit Shake.

Green Lemonade- Rs. 350

The Green Lemonade was very refreshing and very much welcome on a warm day, which is most days here on our tropical island nation.

Zingy Orange- Rs. 350

The Zingy Orange, unlike the other in-house special however, was a little too sweet for our liking, and missed the mark on the “zing”.

Mixed Fruit Shake- Rs. 450

The mixed Fruit Shake took us by surprise – it tasted a lot more like a smoothie, with its thick, creamy consistency, and was actually really good! The flavour of strawberries really pulled through, though. So if you’re a fan of strawberries, this drink I would definitely recommend to you!

Appetisers

Cheese Enchillada with Chicken- Rs. 875

We were feeling super hungry and decided to go all out, ordering a chicken enchilada, a beef chimichanga and a portion of Chicken Nachos. These guys do not skimp out on the cheese, which was generously poured over the enchilada and the chimichanga. We loved the filling in the enchilada, which hit all the right spots in terms of spices and flavour –even though the wrap itself was a tad bit on the tough side.

Chimichanga with Beef- Rs. 800

The beef chimichanga was perfect, and to die for! Every element in this delight came together so well and would definitely be Deadpool approved!

Nachos with Chicken (small)- Rs. 900

The nachos came piled high on a plate, accompanied by copious amounts of guacamole and salsa. There was plenty of chicken drizzled all over, and this dish would have actually made a good meal on its own.

Mains

Tacos

Let’s Taco has quite a variety in the range of tacos, and we opted for their beer battered fish taco, the BBQ Roasted Chicken Taco, and the Four Cheese Taco. Of the three, only the Four Cheese Taco came in a hard shell, with the other two wrapped in soft taco shells. All taco dishes came with two tacos each, an accompaniment of guacamole, salsa, nachos, and a small serving of sweet corn.

Beer Battered Fish Taco- Rs. 1400

The beer battered fish taco was excellent, bursting with flavour in every bite! It really was a dish like no other, especially since we hadn’t seen a taco with such a filling elsewhere.

BBQ Roasted Chicken Taco- Rs. 1200

The BBQ Roasted Chicken Taco was hands down my favorite dish. Slightly sweet, with generous amounts of spice, this is the taco dreams are made of!

Four Cheese Taco- Rs. 1500

The four cheese taco has a lot of room for improvement, as we wished that the cheese could have been a little more melted, which would have really brought the dish together.

Grilled Chicken with Mexican Spice Rice- Rs. 1050

The Grilled Chicken with Mexican Spice Rice was accompanied by a side of grilled cauliflower. All the components in this dish were well executed, and really good as independent items. Put together, it was a powerful plate of flavor, with everything coming together really well to make a mouthwatering dish.

Chicken Cheese Mexican Burger- Rs. 900

Our final main was the Chicken Cheese Mexican Burger, with a lot of emphasis on the cheese. The patty was incredibly delicious, and really brought the whole burger together. Hands down one of my favorite burgers yet!

Desserts

After stuffing ourselves colossally with our mains and appetizers, we questioned ourselves as to whether we could actually stomach any dessert. However, one look at the menu, and we knew we could not leave without sampling something, and hence, opted for the Churro cups with Vanilla Ice cream, and the Cheesecake with Blueberry topping.

Churro Cup with Vanilla Ice Cream- Rs. 525

The Churro cup came out to us warm, with a generous scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream on top, and was bathed in generous amounts of chocolate sauce. Coated with delicious cinnamon sugar, the churro cup was the perfect way to end our meal. If you have a sweet tooth, this is definitely the dish for you!

Cheesecake with Blueberry Topping- Rs. 550

The cheesecake was also very creamy, with a thin biscuit base, and generous amounts of blueberry dressing on the top. All in all, a well executed dish, with the blueberries and cream cheese balancing each other out.

At first glance, the food seems quite expensive. However, it’s well worth the price, in terms of flavour and portion size, so no real complains here. This is a lovely place where you can both chill with your friends or drop in for a casual date night, as the ambience appeals to both occasions. The food and service was awesome, with very friendly staff who were happy to answer any questions on the food, and the atmosphere is quirky and not quite like what you’d find in and around other restaurants in Colombo. Go check them out, and let us know what you think!
