How to keep your facebook safe after your Dead!

2016 May 5

It’s always been a concern to us about all the facebook accounts of people who pass away. We’ve even had meme’s saying how in 10 more years we’ll have millions of facebook accounts of dead people.

But then, a couple of weeks earlier, we noticed how certain facebook accounts of deceased said remembering on top of them. We found this to be very fancy, but it’s only a few of us who figured out how to get this done. So we’ve compiled here how you can do this easily, and how to add your legacy contact as they call it.

After all, it’s not like any of us are immortal. 😛

You can choose whether you’d like to have your account memorialized or permanently deleted from Facebook.

Memorialized Accounts

  1. From the top right of Facebook, click and select Settings
  2. From the left menu, click Security
  3. Click Legacy Contact
  4. There you add a Name of a friend on facebook that you can trust with who will basically take care of your account in case you are deceased.

Deleting Your Account

You can choose to have your account permanently deleted should you pass away. To do this:

  1. From the top right of Facebook, click and select Settings
  2. From the left menu, click Security
  3. Click Legacy Contact
  4. Click have your account permanently deleted and follow the on-screen instructions

How to report the memorialization or removal of a deceased persons account.

To do this you don’t necessarily need to be the Legacy Contact of a person. Anyone can follow the link below and fill the form there in order notify facebook that the owner of that specific account is deceased.

So basically that’s all you need to know about Memorializing Accounts. We wish you all long life. 😀
