Menu

Sri Lankan cuisine is one like no other and rice and curry is a staple meal in most Lankan households. But some days, you just need to take a break from cooking those delicious curries and indulge in some food that wasn’t made by you; some days you just have to take a break from those pots and pans and gobble up some good ol’ kaha bath from Kaha Bath Gedara!

You can order their Sawans which are priced at Rs. 3500 and upwards, and are ideal if your office happens to be pestering you for a birthday treat! *wink wink*

Kaha Bath Gedara, however, doesn’t have a dine-in option; just take away and delivery. You can pick up your meals from their store in Battaramulla or have it delivered to your doorstep. Delivery charges vary as they use a three wheeler to transport the food, so the meter decides the transportation cost. So call up 077 786 2672 and get your lunch plans sorted!

*Note: A minimum order quantity of 4 is required for delivery and lunch orders are taken by 9 am, and dinner orders by 3 pm.

Mains

Kaha bath with Chicken- Rs. 380

This packet of kaha bath is easily one of the best I have ever had. Firstly, the rice has just the right texture; it isn’t too dry and it isn’t too moist either. It was flavourful and had a pleasant and seasoned taste of its own. Our packet of kahabath with chicken came with dhal, batu moju, their delish peanut baduma, a cutlet so fine and filling, a boiled egg, and of course a chunky piece of chicken.

Every single element came together so well and so perfectly, and each mouthful left me craving for more. Their dhal was the all time favourite classic kind, and the batu moju added just the right amount of sweet to the dish.

Unlike places that give you boney pieces of chicken with barely any meat on them to accompany your portion of rice and curry, this piece of chicken was meaty and tasted so good.

The cutlet was delicious and all of us unanimously arrived to the decision that it was one of the best cutlets we’ve tasted. It brought a whole new flavour with the rice and would probably be a pretty good bite on its own to have at a party.

Leaving the best element for last, let me now tell you about that peanut baduma. I have three words for you; OH. MY. GOSH! This just made everything else so much better for me! The peanut baduma was a mix of pieces of papadum, fried noodles, dried chillies and of course peanuts. It was seasoned so well and carried the perfect spice to salt to sweet ratio when it comes to a dish like this.

Like the cutlets, you could have this peanut baduma as a bite at one of your Friday night jingbangs and you’d be the happiest.

Kaha bath with Fish – Rs. 380

Like the previous kaha bath packet, this one came with the same elements, except the chicken was replaced with some mouthwatering Kellawallo Ambul Thiyal. Again, they’d got everything right in this lunch packet and the Ambul Thiyal  was delectable. The paste was made well and really did give our taste buds a thrill!

Kaha bath with Prawns- Rs. 450

We also dug into their kaha bath with prawns and oh my, am I so glad we did! Consisting of dhal, moju, baduma, cutlet, egg and some classic tempered prawns, this rice and curry combo is a seafood lover’s dream come true! The prawns were seasoned well, and since it was tempered, had a nice spicy element to it.

Desserts

Dark Chocolate Biscuit Pudding- Rs. 100

To wrap up our devouring spree, we indulged in some of their dark chocolate biscuit pudding. One thing I dislike in many store bought CBPs is the fact that they tend to be way too watery, with a weird chocolate icing hastily piped in between the soggy Marie biscuits. But take my word for it, Kaha Bath Gedara’s CBP is the polar opposite of this. Instead of the weird icing, they’ve got thick melted chocolate wedged in between the biscuits and on top. The biscuits aren’t soggy, but they’re not too crunchy either. They have the perfect consistency. To top it all off (quite literally), the pudding comes with caramelized and slightly salty cashews on top, which bring out the flavour of the chocolate so much more! Two thumbs up for this delight in a cup!

We were also told that a really popular curry is their Mango curry, so when you order, you could maybe add that to your kaha bath packet! Let us know what you think!
