06 movies to watch out for in 2016 (in a Sri Lankans perspective)

2016 Jan 11

Many of us began the New Year ambitiously wishing that at least this year will be as perfect as a movie, a reality check and life’s way of being a karmic pain may tell you otherwise. But do not fret, all hopes not lost, yet! Even though your year might end up being as bad as the last one, 2016 is waiting to unleash its crazy line up of movie releases which are already rumored to be quite perfect. One sure thing that you can count on this year is that your popcorn and 3D glass moments will be taken over by 6 of the most anticipated movie releases  listed below in no particular order;

  1. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

The title pretty much sums up the storyline and the intensity of this movie is one that every superhero fanatic has been fantasizing day and night about. Batman (Ben Affleck) is the role every man wants to be all due to his crazy rides and macho sexiness while Superman (Henry Cavill) is the role every woman wants to be with thanks to his good looks and yummy charm. It’s an epic fusion waiting to create a powerful explosion.

2. Fifty Shades of Black

Everybody loves a little parody and what better movie to ridiculously imitate compared to the recently released ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ which was known to have literally gotten the audience’s panties in a twist! The upcoming parody is bound to be taking off a lot more than bra’s so this movie too might be one of the immediate national issues that will be addressed by the #brapalanaya leader.

  1. Now You See Me 2

A movie that is said to be packed with adrenaline rushes and mad magical twists. Hopefully it’ll have your eyes glued to the screen even more than the first movie did, as The Four Horsemen resurface for a comeback performance while running from the law in order to clear their names using one last extraordinary stunt. Danielle Radcliffe, an actor known to be the holder of a magical role, hits the screens again this year in this movie with more beard and less wand.

  1. Suicide Squad

This squad is jam-packed with some of the most fantastic actors to have ever hit Hollywood ranging from Jared Leto and Ben Affleck to Viola Davis and Will Smith.  A secret government agency recruits imprisoned super villains to carry out their dirty work and remind people that justice has a bad side. The trailer alone is guaranteed to give you goose bumps and what’s even scarier is that the measures that actual governments take in the real world are more ridiculous than the ones taken in this fictional movie.

  1. Finding Dory

We all know that while ‘Finding Nemo’ was technically supposed to be all about Nemo the highlight of that movie was undoubtedly Dory. Ellen DeGeneres plays the voice of Dory who is the character that finally gets the spotlight in 2016. The unknowingly hilarious and forgetful fish is bringing us a family friendly movie that’ll have you cozying up together to see what Disney has in store for everyone this time.

  1. The Boy

Every year needs a good dose of horror and everyone knows that some of the best horror movies have almost always included a doll. ‘The Boy’ is a twisted and disturbing movie which is based on an English family that hires a nanny for their boy who is actually a doll that might hauntingly be alive.

2015 ended with a bang with the release of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ and therefore 2016 has quite a lot to live up to! However, the movie line up is already amazing so let’s just hope that the actual movies are even better and is worth the impatient wait.
