Prepare for a trip under the starry skies of the Kalpitiya Lagoons! The coconut estate of Luna Laguna is being transformed into a fantasyland for two days and two nights of art, music, camping magic and madness. Luna Music Festival has a killer line up of artists flying over to enchant you.
The Many Roots Ensemble
The Many Roots Ensemble, a large collective of Afro-beat musicians, are coming to Sri Lanka for the first time to play their energetic mix of brass instruments and bass lines. Their music has been inspired by Fela Kuti, Sean Kuti and Kamasi Washington.
Sougata Roy Chowdhury
Sougata Roy Chowdhury, an acclaimed Sarod player will be here to entertain you with the poetry of his strings. Accompanying him on tabla will be Subhajit Brahmachari.
Tajdar Junaid
Tajdar Junaid, with Satyaki Bannerjee and Dwaipayan Saha, all the way from the plains of Bengal, will come to share their folkloric melodies of the Bauls.
The Soul
Clad in sarongs and convincing our toes to get tapping, The Soul will be singing stories of the islands woes and joys.
Dot Dotay
Dot Dotay is a new and ever popular theatrical quartet making waves with the Sinhalese puns and pokes that they weave craftily into their music.
Also representing the local music scene are The Serendib Sorcerers, taking us into a trance with their traditional local drum beats and traditional vannam.
Isuru and Dinelka from the Musicmatters Collective, will be preparing a set of meditative and experimental drone music for deep,contemplative listening. A team of DJs headed by Asvajit, a renowned and well known DJ and music producer will be making sure the festivals pumping and alive till the wee hours.
Wordsmiths Sarah J, Shafni Awam and Mishal Mazin will be performing spoken word poetry as a part of the Lunatic Verse Project.
The restaurants of Kalpitiya will be serving up fresh food and drinks at the festival and Luna Bazaar will be hosting some exciting socially conscious entreprenuers, along with yoga and wellness workshops, cinema and a campsite, on the 7th and 8th of March 2020.
