The 16th of December 2016 was a special day for every Star Wars geek in Sri Lanka, as it marked the premier of “Star Wars: Rogue One”, the latest addition to the Star Wars franchise.
The plot of this movie (I’ll try my best not to give too much of the plot away) revolves around a time of calamity in the Star Wars universe. A band of unsuspecting individuals team up together and cook up a plan to steal the Death Star (tell me you didn’t see that coming) which we all know is the epitome of weapons of mass destruction. This situation unites your average Joes and together they accomplish extraordinary things. While this story unfolds, they all become part of something greater than themselves.
The atmosphere at the premier, which took place at the Majestic City Cinema complex, was buzzing to say the least. Star Wars fans, young and old and from near and far all made it to this event. The reach of Hollywood’s influence is absolutely astonishing. It was quite apparent that our Island home has no shortage of Star Wars geeks! And something we can definitely say about this movie is that the force is strong with this one! *wink wink*
