Students committee of academy of design launched 100 voices AOD; Asia’s first youth led design campaign against gender based violence on the 4th of September at the Jaic Hilton to educate Sri Lankan youth and advocate against GBV through art and design. This novel initiative was sphere headed by a 2nd year fashion design student Chavini De Silva Ariyabandhu of AOD international design campus along with the dynamic students committee.
The designs exhibited at the launch expressed how youth perceive gender based violence and how they Believe art and design can be used to educate youth about this social issue.
100 voices AOD was inspired by “100 voices leading for change” by United Nations Population Fund Sri Lanka, a youth mobilization campaign against gender based violence. This campaign was the brainchild of young social change entrepreneur Onalie De Silva Ariyabandhu of UNFPA.
100 voices aims to educate empower and engage Sri Lankan youth against gender- based violence to mark an end to this prevailing social issue.
