That feeling of finally getting through more than a decade of schooling falls nothing short of exhilarating and relieving. True, you leave behind years of good times and memories; joking in class, catapulting paper pellets at others (and accidentally hitting the teacher in the process), and witnessing pigeons flying straight into the ceiling fan in your class and being scarred for life by the sight of the bird’s head flopping down on your book and the blood on the walls…. Oh, I guess not everyone has had to deal with trauma of this density in school…
Anyhoo, after that chapter comes the one where we have to study for a couple more years… Whoopee, right? If you, like me, chose to go down the very interesting road of Business and Management, then read ahead because I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to relate. If not, you could still read on and figure out a few things when it comes to us Business students.

“You’re doing Business? But everyone’s doing it, noh!”

That’s because it is interesting AF, okay? The subject branches out into so many different elements of Business and you can apply it to almost anything! I’m sorry that everyone else decided to do it, but I like the subject and would like to learn more of it. Thanks for your concern though -.-

No, it’s not as easy as everyone makes it out to be

Let me be honest with you; I was quite hesitant when I chose Business and Management as my degree mainly due to the fact that countless people told me that everyone does it and because I’d heard others say that students go for it because it’s the easiest choice. But after two years of studying in the field, let me tell you, IT AIN’T EASY KIDS! There is an excessive amount of theory you need to familiarize yourself with, and no, you cannot always bluff your way out of tests. Theorists, their theories, the years they researched and reported these theories need to be known, or else kiss your chance of passing goodbye…
-
On that note, THERE IS SO MUCH THEORY
Like I said before, there are a whole lot of areas that come under Business studies and these include Marketing, Business Admin, E-business, Human Resources, Strategy, and Finance.etc. So, you get my point… For each of these subject areas, a gazillion theorists have had so much to say and unfortunately for us, our examinations require us to know these theories, so sleepless nights and caffeine are our BFFs.

Not really knowing how to actually define what business is…

Um, Google it maybe?

Realising how grateful you are for doing Accounting in school for O/Ls and A/Ls
Pay attention in school guys; it takes you a long way.

Investopedia is your lifesaver
When you were supposed to read up on chapters you’ve done previously, but were just too lazy to do, so you whip out your phone and search Investopedia so you’ll be ready to face whatever questions your lecturer bombards at you.
- At some point, you may wonder whether you actually apply Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs in your lazy life
Okay, maybe it’s just me, but I have wondered about this several times.

So for those of you who don’t know of Abraham Maslow’s famous Hierarchy of Needs (heh, losers…), it is basically a chart used to understand motivation, management training and personal development, with basic needs being at the bottom and the self actualization at the top most level. So yeah… you get the gist of it. While I was a youngster in school, learning of the hierarchy for the first time, and even after working and reading for my degree years later, I wonder which level I’m at (probably still at basic needs). *sigh*
