We all struggle with dental issues and let’s face it; they are quite high on our list of 99 problems. Among these oral concerns, plaque teeth reign almighty.
In case you’re wondering what plaque is; it is a soft, sticky overlay that forms along our gum line and is made up of unseen masses of harmful bacteria. These germs pave the way for tooth decay and gum disease if they are not ousted on a daily basis through means of brushing and flossing.
When it comes to maintaining our appearances agreeably, we need to stay clean, look tidy and smell good; and of course, we need to maintain our teeth because that big toothy grin can definitely win you points if they are pearly white and pleasant to look at. Plaque, in the presence of yellow teeth and bad breath, makes for a not-so-good combination.
How do we combat plaque teeth?
Quite obviously, brushing your teeth twice a day will take you far. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste to get rid of plaque from tooth surfaces and to shield your teeth from decay. Fluoride, as many of you know, is the hero of the world of oral hygiene. When it comes to battling plaque, fluoride reduces the ability of the plaque bacteria to produce acid and this plays a major role when it comes to preventing tooth decay.
Likewise, as many of us are becoming fans of the use of natural ingredients in practically everything we use, clove oil can be included in our routine to play a part in battling plaque as well. Clove oil is a favorite essential oil amongst many for healthy teeth and gums. In addition to cloves being able to relieve us of those astoundingly painful toothaches, they also can be used to fight microbes in your mouth that may cause plaque and tartar (a form of hardened dental plaque).
If you’re seeking a go-to solution, using toothpaste that has a combination of both clove oil and fluoride, will most definitely help you fight and prevent most forms of dental erosion, gum ailments and any other oral hygiene problems you may face.
What else you need to know
Primarily, when shopping for toothpaste, you need to buy the right one for you; toothpaste that acts as an answer for all your dental issues, whether it is sensitive teeth or discolored teeth or bleeding gums. Thoroughly research what would help you combat your oral hygiene problems and look for toothpastes consisting of these ingredients.
Secondly, use the right amount of toothpaste when brushing your teeth. Too much of it may harm your teeth in the long run. An approximate pea-sized dab would suffice for adults, while using half the amount required for adults is recommended for young children.
Moreover, choose a suitable toothbrush. Most dental professionals assent that using a soft-bristled brush would be ideal for removing plaque and debris from your teeth. Replace your toothbrush when it begins to wear out or every three months. It is also advisable to replace your toothbrush after you’ve had a cold as germs may get collected, thus leading to reinfection (we definitely do NOT want that!)
