Ancient Egypt: a fire has devastated the Royal Palace, leaving the young Princess Nefertari as the only surviving member of the Eighteenth Dynasty. Her relatives, the infamous heretics, Nefertiti and Akhenaten, haunt her past and cast a shadow over her future.
When she falls in love with Ramesses II, set to become the most powerful pharaoh in history, his aunt sees that she is groomed to become his bride. But even after they are married, Nefertari feels the people’s hatred and fear as she embarks on her new life. Despite her courage, persistence and her husband’s love, will Egypt ever be able to see beyond her past?
Filled with historical detail, political intrigue and all the drama of life in the Royal court, The Heretic Queen is a gripping tale and impossible to put down.
Michelle Moran is an author recognized for her stories revolving around the fascinating Ancient Egyptian Royals, and also wrote the novels Nefertiti and Cleopatra’s Daughter.
Based on the true story of one of the most well known pharaohs, Ramesses II and his Chief Wife, Nefertari, the novel tells of a love story written in the history of Egypt. Of course Nefertari has many obstacles to overcome before finally becoming Queen, having been the leftover princess from the Eighteenth Dynasty’s royal family who were believed to be heretical and bringing a dark cloud over history.
With a penchant for drama and a fictitious insight into the life of a Royal Ancient Egyptian princess, Michelle Moran’s The Heretic Queen is most definitely a worthy read for anyone who is a lover of history (especially that of Ancient Egypt), romance and a hint of adventure.
