The Broadcasting Unit of Ananda College, instigated in 1973 has emerged to be the foremost in the amphitheater of school based media throughout its significant existence of 42 years. With a very few members and starting from scratch, today the Broadcasting Unit of Ananda College has accomplished a consummate level of superiority as a solely student-run organization.

The Broadcasting Unit of Ananda College has always been the “Voice of Ananda” by providing a solid platform to the youth to surpass and ascertain their hidden aptitudes and to pursue their ambitions. Since its initiation, it has won the hearts of many for its sole objective to portray the true role of media and establish a distinguished media discipline in the nation.

The magnanimous project implemented by the Broadcasting Unit of Ananda College is “Sandeshaya Awards”, Sri Lanka’s only media felicitation ceremony organized and hosted to honor and acknowledge the efforts made by the local media stations and exceptional media personnel.

Throughout its noteworthy history, it has also framed massive flawless events such as the Best Announcer Competition – the Intra School Announcing Competition and Sandeshaya Anniversary Celebrations with tremendous success.

The Inter School Announcing Competition is one such benevolent occurrence included in the list of our events where the announcing abilities of students all over Sri Lanka are given the opportunity to bring to limelight. The first edition of this event had been kicked off in 2000 as a small-scaled competition with a participation of students from few provinces in Sinhala and English medium categories. Stepping further ahead, Tamil medium announcing competitions were also included to the list in 2009 after the civil conflict with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) ended, joining schoolchildren from all parts of Sri Lanka including war-affected areas such as Jaffna, Mulativu, Puttalam and Mannar.

We are proud to be the planners of this colossal perception known as “ISAC” which is the longest successively running, only competition in Sri Lanka to be directly supervised by a state ministry: Ministry of Parliament Reforms and Mass Media, only tri-lingual announcing competition in Sri Lanka and the most celebrated announcing competition in the country where participation itself is an honor to a student. This competition has been a boon to thousands of teenagers to heighten their skills further and gain a great deal of experiences in the realm of announcing.

Likewise, this year too the Broadcasting Unit of Ananda College schedules to hold the 16th edition of Sri Lanka’s biggest and most fêted Inter School Announcing Competition (ISAC) on Saturday 17th October and Sunday 18th October 2015 from 08:00 a.m. onwards at Ananda College premises under the supervision of the Ministry of Parliament Reforms and Mass Media.
