Sinhala and Tamil Now Available On Google Speech Recognition

Google announced that, among many other languages, it has added Sinhala and Tamil to its speech recognition option.

The newly added languages are Sinhala (Sri Lanka), Tamil (India, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Malaysia),  Amharic (Ethiopia), Armenian (Armenia), Azerbaijani (Azerbaijani), Bengali (Bangladesh, India), English (Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania), Georgian (Georgia), Gujarati (India), Javanese (Indonesia), Kannada (India), Khmer (Cambodian), Lao (Laos), Latvian (Latvia), Malayalam (India), Marathi (India), Nepali (Nepal), Sundanese (Indonesia), Swahili (Tanzania, Kenya), Telugu (India), Urdu (Pakistan, India).

By supporting these many languages,  Google has taken steps towards making the internet a lot more inclusive. Diversity and culture is appreciated. 

The new update has included over 119 languages in Android’s Gboard, Voice Search and more. 

Additionally, you can use use voice dictation to express yourself with emoji. This, however, is restricted to English in the U.S. for now.
