Sri Lanka being the lovely little island it is, can surely get very hot and humid beyond the point of basic human tolerance. During days like these, everyone resorts to a nice cup/cone of ice cream for relief. Ranging from children in school vans to working people on their lunch break, you can never pass up some “cool” after school.
Well, there’s a new contender in the scene; introducing to you the delectable Frost Rolls from Frosties Ratmalana.
Ambience

There’s not much that Frosties has to offer in this department other than a few cute wall pictures. There are a few tables you can sit at but we believe Frosties could use a few touch ups with the interior décor.
Frost Rolls: Choco Luv – Rs.400, Choc Mint Katty – Rs.450
With each item you order, you get a cup that includes 5 frost rolls and toppings, with a dollop of whipped cream on the side. The base of the ice cream is homemade and suitable for vegetarians, so plus points!

Choco Luv is supposedly one of Frosties best sellers and we can definitely see why! This is a must try for every Nutella fan out there! With an added topping of Cashew nuts, Choco Luv is extremely rich in texture. The whipped cream adds to the creamy smoothness and the cashew cuts through, bringing in a slightly nutty feel.

This one is definitely a sight to see. Green rolls topped off with Hershey’s Chocolate sauce and whipped cream, sure is a winner. The base is made from mint Kit Kat adding to the whole mint chocolate foundation. One thing I’ve always disliked in mint chocolate ice cream is how the mint always overpowers the chocolate. However, Frosties does a perfect job at balancing out the two components!
Beverages: Oreo Milkshake – Rs.550

Although this drink looks great topped off with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles, it wasn’t all too great. The common problem with purchasing Oreo milkshakes is how they lack the “Oreo” effect, but it’s quite the opposite at Frosties. The drink was infused with quite a large quantity of Oreos that it just tasted too biscuit-y to my liking. Who would’ve thought that too many Oreos would be a problem, right?
Mains: Pasta: Mac & Cheese – Rs.600

This is your typical homely mac & cheese with a bit of a Lankan twist to it. Along with the spices, this dish includes of cheese, bell pepper and onions; enhancing the cheesy flavor. The portion size was quite alright considering how generous they were with the cheese. The pasta was cooked well since it was soft but not soggy, however they could use some work on the presentation of this dish.
All in all, we loved our experience at Frosties and would love to see them move into the heart of Colombo. Try it out yourselves and let us know how it went in the comments below!
