Raising and educating a child with autism, while giving them the right care and attention is an extremely conscientious task. That is exactly why specialised centres have been established to nurture and manage children with autism, and yes, we do have them here in Sri Lanka too.

Sumaga Autism Centre
Located in Kelaniya, Sumaga Autism Centre is one of the 72 special education schools in Sri Lanka. The centre focuses on speech therapy along with using individual teaching methods. Thereby, giving them a good start to a wholesome education.

Nisansala Special Training Centre
Nisansala Training Centre provides care and attention for close to 200 children and young adults with learning disabilities. They endeavour to educate these children on social skills, music, speech, computer literacy and self-help skills.

Chitra Lane School
The Chitra Lane School is a special needs day school catering to over 1,000 children from around Sri Lanka each year. Their special education programmes are conducted in English, Sinhala and Tamil depending on the student’s mother tongue.

Ayati National Centre for Children with Disabilities
The Ayati Trust is a charitable trust incorporated between the University of Kelaniya, Hemas and MAS holdings. This centre aims to train and assist children with disabilities ranging from autism, ADHD and other development and learning disorders.
