Forget about going to the store to get some good Gulab Jamun. With this easy recipe, you can make these sugary sweets at home! Get frying!


Ingredients:

  • Milk Powder 1 cup
  • All purpose flour 1/4 cup
  • Ghee 1 tsp
  • Milk 1 tbsp
  • Curd/ Yoghurt 1 tbsp
  • Baking soda 1/4 tsp
  • Oil & Ghee (1 tbsp) for frying
  • Chopped pistachios 1 tsp (optional for garnish)

For sugar syrup:

  • Sugar 1 1/4 cups
  • Water 1 1/2 cups
  • Cardamom (green) 4
  • Rose water 3 drops

Method:

  1. Mix milk powder, all purpose flour and baking soda.
  2. Add yoghurt/ curd to the milk and mix well. Add ghee to the mixture.
  3. Then add this gradually to the milk powder and mix well.
  4. Make 12-14 equal sized balls.
  5. In a separate saucepan, add sugar, water and cardamom. Boil and mix the sugar syrup. Finally add the rose water.
  6. Fry the gulab jamun, adding ghee to the oil, until golden brown on medium heat.
  7. Quickly add the balls to the sugar syrup and allow them to rest for 3-5 hours.
  8. Garnish with chopped pistachios (optional).
