Forget about going to the store to get some good Gulab Jamun. With this easy recipe, you can make these sugary sweets at home! Get frying!
Ingredients:
- Milk Powder 1 cup
- All purpose flour 1/4 cup
- Ghee 1 tsp
- Milk 1 tbsp
- Curd/ Yoghurt 1 tbsp
- Baking soda 1/4 tsp
- Oil & Ghee (1 tbsp) for frying
- Chopped pistachios 1 tsp (optional for garnish)
For sugar syrup:
- Sugar 1 1/4 cups
- Water 1 1/2 cups
- Cardamom (green) 4
- Rose water 3 drops
Method:
- Mix milk powder, all purpose flour and baking soda.
- Add yoghurt/ curd to the milk and mix well. Add ghee to the mixture.
- Then add this gradually to the milk powder and mix well.
- Make 12-14 equal sized balls.
- In a separate saucepan, add sugar, water and cardamom. Boil and mix the sugar syrup. Finally add the rose water.
- Fry the gulab jamun, adding ghee to the oil, until golden brown on medium heat.
- Quickly add the balls to the sugar syrup and allow them to rest for 3-5 hours.
- Garnish with chopped pistachios (optional).
