When it comes to giving, Sri Lankans are a generous lot. It comes as no surprise therefore, that we are big on charity.
The phrase ‘charity begins at home’ can be interpreted in different ways. Some say it refers to helping those living nearest to you first. For example, people of your local community or country – rather than those living far away or in another nation. Others say it means that kids learn charity at home. Watching their parents and grownups practising charity is what will result in them doing the same when they grow older.
Whatever your take on the definition, here’s a list of charities in Sri Lanka that you simply must know.
