A quaint little coffee shop down Park Road
Cafe La Defense is a quaint little coffee shop down Park Road where you can enjoy a quiet coffee and sandwich for more than affordable prices. It’s dimly lit with quite a few seating options but otherwise, there’s nothing much that adds to decor and ambience
Drinks
Choco chip Frappe- Rs. 550

This was a big, messy glass of chocolaty goodness that had little bits of chocolate in it. It was not overly sweet, as is the usual case with these beverages, and was nice to enjoy on a warm Sri Lankan day.
Cappuccino Regular- Rs. 350

After two packets of sugar and much effort,, the bitterness of the Cappuccino was compensated for but it was a nice blend and the flavours pulled through beautifully. I’d recommend this for a cosy rainy day with some Ed Sheeran melodies in the background
Mains
Egg and Chicken sandwich- Rs. 550
Unfortunately, they were fresh out of ice-burg lettuce at 3.30 so we couldn’t opt for any of the salads. The only other option on their menu were the sandwiches seeing as their brekky options aren’t all day.

The Egg and Chicken Sandwich was an amalgamation of chicken sautee, egg, red onion and cucumber sandwiched in between a baguette with a side of fries . Truthfully, we weren’t too excited for this but were pleasantly surprised! The flavours were pretty good and it was a pretty generous serving. We were quite happy with the dish and would definitely recommend it.
Club sandwich- Rs. 600

The Club Sandwich was a huge stack of goodness! There was chicken, chicken ham, chicken bacon, cucumbers, tomato, egg, red onion and a whole bunch of other stuff sandwiched within toasted bread and served with a side of fries. It was one of the better club sandwiches we’ve tried in Sri Lanka and were very satisfied with the flavours and portion size. We can definitely say that it was quite worth it!
Dessert
Cheesecake- Rs. 450

The cheesecake came in pretty layers of chocolate and cheesecake .The biscuit base could have been crunchier because there was nothing much to bring it texture. However. we have to say that it was quite tasty. For Rs. 450, it was a little questionable, but nonetheless, pretty well done.
In terms of service, they were pretty cordial and accommodating. The only catch was that our food took about half an hour to come to the table. The place had a little static-sounding music in the background that was too low-tuned for us to hear.
Overall, it’s a good place to grab a quiet coffee or a hearty sandwich, but maybe try not to expect too much of it.
