Menu

Comfort Food & Coffee outside the city!

Lounge 171 is a cosy, rustic café located far away from the usual city bustle of Colombo. Their menu is somewhat basic. From coffees, to shakes, to pizzas, wraps and sandwiches, you have a decent range to choose from.

On a side note, they’ve got Netflix and a vintage Marshall Stanmore speaker booming out some amazing tracks from the early 2000’s! People can connect their phones and listen to music. The music definitely lightens up your mood and good music is always welcome when enjoying some great food!

Drinks

Oreo Milkshake- Rs. 400

Not one of the best Oreo Shakes that I’ve had, but it did taste really good. They weren’t at all stingy with the Oreos and each sip had a great, luscious Oreo taste. However, we did wish the consistency was a bit thicker.

Brownie Blast- Rs. 400

Absolutely yum! It was topped with a huge dollop of whipped cream and a hefty chunk of brownie which I loved devouring! It was fudgy and had quite a few nuts in it. Not unlike with the Oreo milkshake, the consistency could have been thicker. Nonetheless, the blended brownie tasted great in the drink. All in all, a great shake!

Mains

Devilled Seafood Wrap- Rs. 650

The wrap was quite large and filling. It was spicy and tasted really nice. Loaded with veggies, chunks of fried fish and spicy sauce, everything came together quite well. The seafood tasted really good, and people who aren’t fans of fish would probably like this because it didn’t carry a fishy flavour. We did get a bit annoyed, however, because there was an unwelcome fish bone which ultimately got stuck at the back of my friend’s throat.

Yummy Coating Chicken Burger- Rs. 550

One thing I do have to give a special mention to, are the accompanying potato wedges. By far, these were best wedges I’ve had; they were light, crispy and not oily. So do try them out when you drop by!

The salad that came along with the burger was fresh and had a pleasant crunch. The dressing they used also complemented the veggies well.

The burger was a real mouthful, but oh so good! I would definitely pick this over a hastily made fast food restaurant burger. The patty was big in size, seasoned and cooked well. It was crispy and crunchy, definitely being the star of the burger. It also had a nice big slice of melted cheese, as well as lots of peppers, tomato slices and onions. The sauce made it perfection.

Spicy Chicken Devilled Pizza: S- Rs. 750, L- Rs.1150

Now this is the part that left me disappointed. I asked the waiter whether they did half and half pizzas, and he told me they did when it came to large pizzas. So I opted for the spicy devilled chicken topping and the lasagna topping. However, we just got a whole pizza with just the former topping. Since it was pointless ordering a whole new pizza, we just stuck with this.

The sauce tasted very much like the one used in the wrap, and did work quite well on the pizza. It was packed with flavour and the meat used in the topping tasted really good, albeit there wasn’t much of it on the pizza. It was loaded with bell peppers and onions, though, which did add to the flavour.
