No matter where you have worked, most people have experienced a wide range of different types of bosses. After all, bosses are quite important. They could make or break your job and define how you progress forward in your career! That being said, here are the eight most common types of bosses you might encounter in the work place!
The Micromanager

The most nitpicky type of boss you can find, the micromanager will delegate work but then attempt to control every aspect of it. This boss is so intent on getting everything done right that he/she does all their employees’ work as well! They want to be involved in every decision, such as choosing the font for the next presentation, even though they probably already told you to do it. While you might like having your work done for you, the annoyance you will have due to the nitpicking will be far greater.
The Friendly Boss
This boss acts just like your buddy at work. They are always ready to talk, laugh, and share a beer with you. While this can be very helpful, it can also become quite very confusing at times. The line between boss and friend is particularly hazy, and you will never know if they are seriously telling you to get back to work, or pulling your leg. Good luck navigating those waters.
The Cold-Hearted

You could be dying at home with a 101° temperature, and yet this boss will attempt to call you for meetings without a single ‘How are you feeling?’ message. Your sister’s wedding could be tomorrow, but this boss will make you work till late in the night if necessary. Easily the most annoying of all bosses, you will begin to wonder whether he/she even has a single shred of empathy.
The Serious and Scary

This boss has a quite traditional philosophy in life. They believe that the way to get employees to work is by being as formidable and scary as possible. Shouting, breathing down your neck, and terrorizing are some of the few areas this boss specializes in. His/her day is not complete until they have successfully reduced an employee to near tears.
The Confused Boss

You will never understand how this boss got his job, because he/she always appears to be confused and seems to always ask you for help to complete even the simplest tasks. It’s quite likely that they secured their job through a contact or family relationship, which is why they do not have a clue as to what needs to be done. In short, this boss is a walking catastrophe who always needs to consult with someone to find the solution to a problem.
The Lazy Boss

The lazy boss piles all his work on his employees while attempting to neglect as many of his duties as possible. Although his/her task may be overseeing the work of his employees, their other duties tend to be piled on the employees as well. In fact, the lazy boss may quite possibly be more difficult to work for than the Scary one.
The Ambitious
This boss is very concerned about his career, and quite possibly yours too. He/she will always work hard and motivate you to work hard as well, in order to get to the top. The ambitious boss will most definitely help you climb the ladder. However, if this type of boss is combined with the scary type, then good luck to you. You’ll definitely need it.
The Pervert

Ah, last but not least, my favourite (not) kind of boss. This boss lives to be the bane of your existence at office. The inappropriate behaviour, the sometimes-not-so-subtle touching, the uncomfortable comment and the creepy eyeing is enough to make you want to quit every single day. They’d “flirtatiously” smile, comment on how you look and probably think they are super smooth. If you have to survive with one of these bosses, there’s only two ways to go; either tell them off once and for all and probably risk your boss’ wrath or keep your trap shut, endure the measly behaviour and somehow try to avoid them at all costs. My advice would be the former.
If you have had or currently have one of these bosses, then you can surely relate! Don’t spend too much time worrying – because one day you too will be one of these bosses!
