So as many of you might have known the Derana Film awards happened last weekend, and the celebs were all glammed up for a night of awards. Cause it’s basically a night to celebrate them! Derana as always did a fabulous job organizing the night (hahaha no I’m not made to say that- trust me no one makes me say stuff, if at all they just sensor me) lol.. So I too got to be part of this awards night and of course walk the red carpet thanks to Pulse. Since now I’m an “Online celeb” ha haha yeah sure (says me –can you hear the sarcasm!) Well, anyway, I also got an invite to this gala night and walked among the celebs. But as a beauty and fashion blogger I had my eye out to see who the best and worst dressed were at the event. Since I want to keep this on the ‘non-controversial’ side I’m not gonna mention the worst dressed, but if your name didn’t make this list as best dressed maybe you gotta start thinking of your fashion choices for the night. Just saying you know! And if your reading this well, ooh I feel special! I’ve made it- the stars are reading my article. Hahaha.. I’m just messing around.
So here’s what I saw that night in terms of makeup and outfits and here are my thoughts! Just like you see on E news, I did my version of fashion police! Here are the Hits and well the misses umm I’m not allowed to say. So shuuuuhhh you’ll never know!
PS: People mentioned below didn’t make the list because they are my friends. They just happened to be dressed well
Yureni Noshika
I thought she did a fabulous job in choosing her dress. #slaygirl. I thought her body looked amazing in that dress and she totally pulled it off. Loved her simple hair down and that strapless back was the show stopper. Kudos girl you’re my first best dressed celeb, you really caught my eye.
Udari Perera
Her makeup was on point girl! Damn! Thumbs up to that makeup artist… She rocked an Indian black choli kinda thing. I wasn’t dying over her outfit so much. But she definitely gets a mention for having looked gorgeous. Her makeup and hair was perfect!
Shereen Kumarathunga
We gotta mention her. Wow! This lady is always dressed well and looks flawless. And isn’t she like my mom’s age?? Oh whatever your doing- keep doing. You look better than any 20 year old! So huge respect for her style and the fact that she takes care of herself. That white saree, her hair and her face = flawless!
Nilmini Tennakoon
Another lady that just gets better with age! Like a whisky!!!! We gotta mention her. I mean does she ever age? She looks so beautiful and so natural. And I think we gotta give it to her for always looking fresh and flawless. I don’t see her making too many public appearances but man when she does – she does it well. Her gold saree is simple and elegant. Her hair and makeup looked so natural and yet effortlessly flawless. So she is one of my favourites in this list. If I could look like her in 20 year, let’s just say I’ll be happy!
Pooja Umashankar
Does she need a mention? She looks so beautiful in everything she wears and everything she does. I’ve heard all good things about her from people who know her. She I feel is one celebrity who always nails it with her hair, makeup and her outfits. They seem well thought out and really captures who she is as a person. I feel she dresses to who she is and that definitely looks good on her. And this day was no different- her performance on stage was #flawless. She takes away the effortlessly beautiful 24/7 awards from me!
Sangeetha Weerarathne
I thought she looked elegant in that black number, but what caught my eye the most was her flawless makeup. She looked stunning in all the selfies she posted on her FB account. So good job! And I mean that outfit was pretty sexy! 😉 nice going girl! Hehehehe she definitely has her good days and bad..but this was a good day! HIT!
Kaushalya Fernando
I thought her styling was beautiful. She wore a black cotton saree with a high neck jacket and that hairstyle really complimented the look. She looked elegant and classy all wrapped together in 6 yards! And congrats on taking home the Best actress award of the night! You looked beautiful doing it.

Sorry didn’t know who she was until I started writing this article. But giiirrl I checked your page out just to find out who you are cause I wanted to include you by “name” in this article. Shalani Tharaka! #slay girl!!! What great selfies and you are fully glammed up girl. I love it!!! Very much my type of styling. The smokey eye look and the sleek hair.. Very nice! Not the biggest fan of that dress or that HUGE clutch but girl its ok.. You looked fabulous nonetheless. I mean I took the time to learn your name! That’s a lot of effort on my part.
Hey you can’t make everyone happy! Congratulations to all 8 celebs who made my pick for best dressed. I’m not an easy judge, so you definitely got it right. And those of you who didn’t well, maybe I just didn’t see you. Or your outfit was horrendous or your makeup was just all kinds of crazy- but I guess you’ll never find out. #livingit
