A Spoiler-Free Review of Avengers: Infinity War

2018 Apr 26

From the first opening scene to the last end credits, I was glued to the edge of my seat with my jaw dropped, mesmerized. It’s finally here and it’s everything I’ve been hoping for and more!

The first thing that stands out in this movie is the amazing performance by Josh Brolin as Thanos, the mad Titan. Even though the CGI is considerably noticeable at some points, the emotions he portrays are absolutely beautiful. Every scene he’s in, he takes it home. I don’t think anyone will say that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is lacking a memorable super-villain after watching this latest installment in the series because Thanos makes Loki look like Malekith (Thor- The Dark World).

For a fan of superhero movies, the plot itself is certainly nothing new. A big bad purple super-villain comes with intent of destroying the universe by trying to gather all the infinity stones and the Avengers have to rally together to stop them, with some help, of course.

The comedy seamlessly blends in with the stupendously choreographed action sequences. The CGI and the cinematography was as incredible as expected from a high budget marvel movie with mind bending 3D cut scenes that play will blow your mind. If you’ve watched any of the latest marvel movies so far, you know what I’m talking about.

Although the 1st and the 3rd act were amazingly paced, there were some scenes where the movie seemed like dragging in the 2nd act. But this is me nitpicking. Meanwhile, the tone of the movie shifts in a very cool way, where it almost feels like one episode ended and another began, but in a movie. Major props to the Russo brothers who made this work.

If you kept in touch with the last MCU movies, you may know that almost all the superhero characters are well developed by this point, along with the hilarious chemistry between the characters. And if you are new, well, what are you even doing reading this review? Go begin your Marvel experience by watching Iron-Man, because you are missing out on a lot!

Another aspect they absolutely nailed was the vague chemistry and interactions between characters that have never previously met. It was hilarious as well as dramatic. If you had a problem with Thor-Ragnarock missing the emotional mark by being too funny, this movie will fix that for you. While fan service is definitely present, it’s not overdone, but to a modest amount.

As expected, everyone in the cast brought their A game, and the acting was marvelous. Some characters may or may not be in the movie so do keep an open mind.

All in all, the movie was an amazing experience and completely worth the ten year wait! If you’re not particularly a Marvel fan, you’d still enjoy it, and if you are a hardcore MCU fan, it certainly lives up to the hype! This is especially true with regard to the character of Thanos.

Fair warning, this does end in a cliffhanger, but don’t wait for the next installment, watch it now!

P.S. There is a post-credit scene, don’t miss out.
