What we had
The Kingsbury is well known for the 5 star luxuries it offers and its many restaurants that put together some amazing food on the table. The poolside bar was recently revamped and is now what is known as Honey Beach Club. Adorned with beautiful marquee lights, lanterns and decor to make it look like a night under an always starry sky, Honey Beach now has an extremely extensive menu and pool-party vibes that can brighten up your midweek blues.

Their drinks are top-notch but their food; not so much.
Drinks
Since we were there during midday, we decided to give our beba sides a rest and sip on some non-alcoholic drinks!
Kiwi Milkshake- Rs. 700

They had the usual milkshakes, but one thing that stood out was the kiwi milkshake, namely because you don’t find too many places in Lanka that serve up such a drink. This drink was simply yum! It was a good choice for hot day. Although we would have preferred for the taste of kiwi to pull through well, it was very subtle. It would have also been ideal if the consistency of the drink was thicker.
Be My Honey Mocktail- Rs. 700

This isn’t your typical mocktail; it was very similar to a thick Mango Lassi. The flavours were your perfect tropical ones and the drink was well suited for a sunny day by the pool. A definite recommend!
Appetizers
Popcorn Chicken Bites with Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce- Rs. 550

When I saw this on the menu, I immediately imagined this to be like the one available at your local KFC outlet.
Let me start by saying this is not really worth 550 bucks, given that the portion was really small. Nonetheless, it did taste quite good and was easily our favourite food item. The chicken was deliciously seasoned and fried well. It wasn’t too oily and was crunchy and crispy. The Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce deserves a special mention because it brought so much flavour to the entire appetiser as well as added a much needed spice factor to it. I must say though that one point it started to feel like eating fried fish with tartar sauce, because it replicated the same texture and taste.
Mains
We had heard mixed reviews about Honey Beach Club’s pizzas, and of course we wanted to see what the hype was all about for ourselves. Firstly, they do not offer a half-and-half option, which was a major disappointment for me. Secondly, the hype is a tad bit overrated. However, they did have an interesting as well as unique variety of pizza toppings.
Fiery Chili Coconut Chicken Pizza- Rs. 1650

The Fiery Chili Coconut Chicken Pizza sounds like a tropical, spicy and oh-so-Sri Lankan topping. This consisted of oven roasted chicken, capsicum, cherry tomatoes, onions, coconut chilli sauce and was garnished with shallots, mozzarella and coconut flakes. It tasted pretty average and there wasn’t anything particularly outstanding about it. I expected nai miris-like heat to it because it was supposed to be “fiery”. Sadly, it wasn’t spicy, let alone fiery. The fried bits of coconut didn’t add much to it, taste-wise, either.
Sweet Potato Vegan Lovers Pizza- Rs. 1200

This was a concoction of sweet potato, button mushrooms, crushed garlic, pizza sauce and vegan cheese garnished with rosemary, salt flakes and sweet chilli sauce. Since this topping was also one that we’ve never seen before, we wanted to give it a try. It was easily much more flavourful than the Fiery Chili Coconut Chicken Pizza, but wasn’t exactly a mouth-watering dish.
