Cooking with Aunty D.

Here’s an interesting drink to enjoy with the festivities! Get mixing!


  • Milk 1/2 bottle
  • Arrack (Ceylon) 1 bottle
  • Sugar 750 g
  • Orange juice 1/2
  • Lime juice 1/4
  • Vanilla 2
  • Water 1/2
  • Orange rind 2
  • Lime rind 1
  • Cinnamon 1
  • Nutmeg (ground) 1
  • Mace 1
  • Cloves 5
  • Brandy 1/4
  • Caramelized sugar


  1. Add cinnamon, nutmeg, orange rind, lime rind, cardamom and cloves to the arrack and leave aside for 3-4 days. Shake the bottle well twice daily.
  2. After 4 days, strain the arrack mixture.
  3. Warm the milk and let it cool. Remove the thin film that forms over the milk.
  4. Combine sugar, arrack orange juice, lime juice, water, milk and caramelized sugar and vanilla. Mix well.
  5. Strain with a thick cloth. Then strain twice with filter paper
  6. Cork the bottles well and open it up on Christmas day!
