Veralu Achcharu | Cooking with Aunty D

Veralu achcharu is the best mood fixer for a boring day. Tangy, punchy and full of spice. This isn’t just a snack, it’s a flavour punch in the face.

Ingredients

 

For boiling:

Veralu 250 g

Salt 1 tsp

 

For the mixture:

Water 1 cup

Chili powder ½ tsp

Chili flakes 1 tsp

Salt  ½ tsp

Sugar ¼ cup

Pepper powder ½ tsp

 

Method

 

Boil veralu in salted water until they split.

In a pot, boil water, chilli powder, chilli flakes, pepper powder, sugar and salt until it becomes a thick syrup.

Add the boiled veralu to the mixture and mix well.

Remove from heat and serve.

Don’t be afraid of sticky fingers. That’s a good sign and that’s how you know you did it right.
