Menu

The Traveling Bruncher, where everything is a mini feast!

If you’re looking to relish in peace or indulge loudly, The Traveling Bruncher serves both vibes. An unexpected yet fortunate discovery nestled on the rooftop of Green Lanka Towers, their food is as good as it looks unlike in most cases.

All the dishes were shareable among two people with generous portions. Read on to see what each dish literally brings to the table!

Appetisers

Hot Butter Cuttlefish – LKR 1,600 (5/5)

While I’m sure all of us have plenty of cuttlefish stories to tell, I’m equally unsure if you’ll find a softer and more satisfying version elsewhere. Juicy, moderately spicy and with just enough crunch, this was worth the price for a shareable dish. I for one, get tired with a few pieces down the usual cuttlefish lane, but here is something that would actually stand out.

Mains

Krusty Kukula – LKR 1,800 (5/5)

Sitting atop a soft and tasteful brioche bread, the ‘Krusty Kukula’ came with lots and lots of sriracha hollandaise overtop the crispy chicken. Crunchy in the first bite and moistened with rich hollandaise, the chicken simply melts in your mouth. An active volcano of goodness! Can easily be shared among two.

Maharaja – LKR 2,400 (5/5)

Stop everything and take a snap of this majestic culinary setup for your foodie diaries before you dig in! Whoever named it named it right. Poached eggs like two blobs of delicate jewels drenched in buttery hollandaise, the flavour layers to this dish were a perfect combination of crunch and cream. On top of crunchy potato hash lies generous amounts of pulled-pork which make up a succulent bite with the eggs as the smooth hollandaise ties it all together.

Mr.Krabs – LKR 1,650 (4/5)

A toasted brioche boat filled with crab meat and cheese for those who lavishly or moderately consume crab. The dish is a creamier one between cheese and buttery crab which makes this suitable for first timers with crab meat.

Drinks

Gnana Akka – LKR 1,300 (5/5)

10/10 for the inviting presentation of the cocktail. It is an instant mood fixer and refresher made of vodka, elderflower, blackcurrant, hibiscus and lime. Ideal to sip in their outdoor rooftop lounge area with a side of sunset!

Ambience and Service

Getting to the restaurant from the ground floor is a bit of a discovery for a first timer but it’s all worth the treats that await you. You can take your pick between a table in the indoor dining area and the cosy outdoor area that’s open to a great view of the city. Perfect at all times of the day, if you make it around sundown, the views and the vibe won’t disappoint you.

As a BYOB spot in town, The Traveling Bruncher turns into a restobar by night with live music and events. (Keep an eye out for their social media to find out what’s new!)

The ambience is lively with staff walking around every few minutes with very appetising and great smelling plates. Don’t hold back if you get the urge to ask what exactly are the others having which will probably end at “I will have that too.”

Tip: Do not miss out on the poached egg specialities. Heaven!
