Cooking with Aunty D.
Here’s an interesting drink to enjoy with the festivities! Get mixing!
Ingredients:
- Milk 1/2 bottle
- Arrack (Ceylon) 1 bottle
- Sugar 750 g
- Orange juice 1/2
- Lime juice 1/4
- Vanilla 2
- Water 1/2
- Orange rind 2
- Lime rind 1
- Cinnamon 1
- Nutmeg (ground) 1
- Mace 1
- Cloves 5
- Brandy 1/4
- Caramelized sugar
Method:
- Add cinnamon, nutmeg, orange rind, lime rind, cardamom and cloves to the arrack and leave aside for 3-4 days. Shake the bottle well twice daily.
- After 4 days, strain the arrack mixture.
- Warm the milk and let it cool. Remove the thin film that forms over the milk.
- Combine sugar, arrack orange juice, lime juice, water, milk and caramelized sugar and vanilla. Mix well.
- Strain with a thick cloth. Then strain twice with filter paper
- Cork the bottles well and open it up on Christmas day!
